An induction hob will heat a pan to boiling point in 9 seconds!! 

In a recent test a 3.1kw Control Induction CI-31 plug in countertop induction hob heated an 8" aluminium non stick frying pan from the ambient temperature of 24C to over 100C in less than 9 seconds. The pan had a 4mm thick aluminium body, an induction compatible base and a Teflon platinum non stick coating.
